Some young students are showing their appreciation for the brave men and women who are fighting the Pole Creek and Bald Mountain Fires. Students at Spanish Oaks Elementary School wrote these notes to the firefighters. “These firefighters deserve every thanks they get!” said Sgt. Spencer Cannon with Utah County Sheriff’s Office said in a tweet sharing the adorable messages. The Pole Creek and Bald Mountain fires were sparked by lightning in late August and early September, but due high winds and hot, dry conditions they quickly spread out of control. Combined both fires torched more than 100,000 acres and forced thousands to evacuate their homes. Nearly 2,000 fire personnel were assigned to fight these fires over the last week.
