Another set of pre-trial motions regarding evidence in the case of a Nelson County woman charged with felony murder and arson were presented in Nelson County Circuit Court on Tuesday. Linda Campbell Blackwell, 58, is charged with first-degree felony murder, obtaining money by false pretenses and arson in connection with an Aug. 2, 2009, fire that killed James Shelton Sr. She also faces two counts each of arson and obtaining money by false pretenses in connection with two house fires on the same property on Creekview Lane in Lovingston in February 2012 and May 2013. Her trial is set for trial March 4. Judge J. Michael Gamble, Commonwealth’s Attorney Anthony Martin and defense attorney Paul Valois discussed two motions about permissible evidence related to Blackwell’s living situation after the 2009 fire and statements made by Shelton in the days prior to his death.
