Norfolk Fire-Rescue, in partnership with Norfolk Public Schools Technical Center, is pleased to announce that John Thatch and Timothy Kelly have successfully moved from Fire-Rescue Public Safety Interns to positions as Norfolk Firefighter Recruits.
This partnership between Fire-Rescue and the fire and EMS program with the Public Schools Technical Center began in the summer of 2013. Both Thatch and Kelly were hired in the fall of 2013 as the first students in the Norfolk Public Safety Intern Program. Now they are the first to move from the intern position to a firefighter recruit position. This partnership provides a path for the best of the fire and EMS program students to move from the classroom to an intern position, providing meaningful employment, and the opportunity to excel with an ultimate goal of moving to a firefighter recruit position.
Norfolk Fire-Rescue is anxious to continue this partnership, and offers a sincere congratulations to Thatch and Kelly for blazing a trail for other Technical Students to follow.
