The Jefferson Theater is showcasing a benefit event for the Grottoes Volunteer Fire Department (GVFD).
GVFD has been serving as the command center for hundreds of firefighters working in the Shenandoah National Park to put out the Rocky Mount wildfire.
The Travelin' McCourys will play with special guest Mipso at Charlottesville’s Jefferson Theater on Friday, April 29.
The concert has been planned for months, but when the headlining band found out about the wildfire, they wanted to use their show to help.
A portion of each ticket sale will be given to GVFD and to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation, which supports families of firefighters who have been injured or killed in the line of duty.
"The Shenandoah National Park is a treasure, not just for this community but for the region and the nation. And it was actually the Travelin' McCourys' idea, so hats off to them for coming up with a concept that benefits the folks that are out there on the front line protecting the park," said Jefferson Theater General Manager Jonathan Drolshagen.
