911 services were unavailable to DC residents last night for over 90 minutes after an equipment failure.
In a press conference the following morning, Director of DC Homeland Security Chris Geldart said, “We know this is an equipment failure. It was not a power failure,” and stated that the agency was looking into the cause. He also said they did not suspect nefarious activity or hacking was at fault.
Karima Holmes, Director of Office of Unified Communications, went on to say that service had been entirely restored.
