A structure fire occurred on the second floor of a Colonial Heights apartment on Arnett Boulevard Thursday afternoon. Cotyann Dale said she saw the smoke and parked to call 911 at 4:44 p.m. From what Dale could see, the "flames started coming out the window" of the second story apartment. She told 911 dispatch that "some gentleman is up there with a fire extinguisher." Dale remembers another resident telling the man to get away from the fire. 'There goes everything I own," Dale heard someone say. Dale's vehicle was still in the apartment's parking lot when Danville Fire Department trucks arrived. They brought out the hoses - with one being laid close behind her vehicle. She couldn't back out or else she'd run over the hose, interrupting the spray. She's been at the scene for more than an hour, watching members from Danville Fire Department, Danville Police Department and the Danville Life Saving Crew work the scene. Dale said she "started praying for the people who lived there."
