A fire significantly damaged a home in James City County, Thursday morning. County officials say fire units were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of Wilson Circle around 6:22 a.m. Arriving at 6:29 a.m. they found smoke showing from the front door and fire venting from the rear of the single-story home. Due to high heat conditions, firefighters cooled the fire from the exterior of the home before entering to extinguish it. The home sustained significant fire and smoke damage. The fire was brought under control at 6:49 a.m. Residents were home at the time of the fire and evacuated before the fire department's arrival. Crews remained on scene for several hours removing debris and checking for additional fire damage. One occupant of the home was treated for smoke inhalation and taken to a local hospital.
