Update: Botetourt Co. firefighter still in critical condition after getting hurt during flood rescue

Botetourt County has identified the firefighter who was critically hurt in last week’s flooding. Eagle Rock Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Alan Wright is in critical condition after trying to rescue a family stranded in their home. Wright was pulled under floodwaters for a few minutes. He was pulled out of the water by fire and rescue workers. Wright went into cardiac arrest and needed to be resuscitated. He was brought to Alleghany Regional Hospital where he was stabilized. He was transferred to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he is now.
