Virginia Beach Fire crews are working to put out a fire that broke out Monday morning in a townhome in the 600 block of Lake Ridge Place. The fire is under control at this time, but firefighters are working to hit hot spots on the second floor. One male resident was able to escape the home safely. He tells News 3’s Stefania Okolie that he left a cigarette butt burning on accident and he believes that is what caused the fire. No further updates are available at this time.
