Firefighters worked to extinguish a fire Wednesday morning at Diamond Hill Animal Hospital on Main Street, where workers were able to evacuate both themselves and the animals there safely.
Robert Lipscomb Jr., Lynchburg Fire Department battalion chief, said at the scene that a 911 call regarding the fire came in at 7:51 a.m. Wednesday and crews were on scene in about five minutes. He said there was fire and smoke coming from a back room in the building, where a clothes dryer was on fire.
