The community is stepping up for public officials in Charlottesville.
The fire department wrote that several other fire stations from the surrounding area voluntarily sent their trucks and employees to cover the Charlottesville Fire Department for the day on Monday to provide them with a day of rest after the weekend events. "A huge thank you to all of our brothers and sisters at Stafford Fire, Henrico Fire, Harrisonburg Fire, Richmond Fire, Staunton Fire, Lynchburg Fire, and Chesterfield Fire," they wrote on Facebook.
