Days after a local firefighter and his family lost their home and belongings just before Christmas, the same unfortunate situation happened for a family of eight in the Turbeville area Wednesday afternoon. Ray and Patty Chapell and their six children lost their modular home and belongings in a fire that occurred around 12:30 p.m. on 1085 Powell Lane. This devastating news also comes just days after Chapell received some goods news of his own when South Boston Town Council granted him a special use permit to open a tattoo shop on Halifax Road.
