The Altavista and Evington Fire Departments responded to a brush fire and house fire overnight. According to the Altavista Fire Company's Facebook page, company 17 was dispatched to the 600 block of Johnson Creek Rd before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. Firefighters found the fire and worked quickly to contain it, officials say. They wrote that fire was extinguished and crews left the scene shortly before 2:30 a.m. Thursday. Then, crews were called to a house fire in the 500 block of Dearborn Road.
