Members of the Speedwell Volunteer Fire Department trained this weekend using equipment on their newest vehicle. This past spring, the department bought a $40,000 rescue truck from the rescue squad in Blacksburg.
The department will use the truck when it responds to wrecks. The truck is equipped with the Jaws of Life tool used to extract passengers from vehicles. It also houses air bags that can be used to lift vehicles and lights to illuminate accident scenes. The truck also is equipped with various hand tools, power tools, saws, jacks, etc.
