After seven years of service, John Jeniec has stepped down as chief of the Orlean Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.
The volunteers have elected veteran member Jim Jones to succeed Chief Jeniec.
He remains passionate about the OVFRD because it developed him into a firefighter, EMT, department leader and fire ground officer, Mr. Jeniec said. A graduate of Bridgewater College, he began his career in 1998 as a 16-year-old, the earliest age one can become a volunteer in Fauquier County.
