An attorney for Lynchburg urged a federal judge Wednesday to dismiss an age and sex discrimination lawsuit against the city and the Lynchburg Fire Department by a woman who used to work for the agency. Ruth Anne Phillips filed her initial lawsuit last fall in U.S. District Court in Lynchburg. After retaining a lawyer she filed an amended complaint in January. Phillips is seeking a jury trial and compensatory and punitive damages to be determined by the jury, along with court costs.
