A Halifax Rescue Squad career member was recognized for his dedication and service with an award from Old Dominion Emergency Services Alliance on Saturday at their regional awards and Family Fun Day. Michael J. Hardy, who began his career in fire and EMS in 1980 at the age of 16 with the North Halifax Fire and Rescue Department, received the award given “to an individual who exemplifies outstanding dedication and service to the statewide emergency medical services system and has demonstrated a commitment to a comprehensive, integrated system of emergency medical services throughout the commonwealth.”
