Fake gunshots rang out inside Kings Dominion on Wednesday, followed by a loud boom. The usual upbeat theme music continued to play as smoke began to rise from within the amusement park. Around 50 emergency personnel — including Hanover deputies, firefighters and EMTs — practiced how to react to active threats such as shooters and explosives inside the popular theme park. As the simulation continued, a women’s voice emphasized the situation was a drill prior to describing the scenario over the intercom.
