Editorial: A sacrifice we often ignore

There wasn’t anything special about the notice, but it still caught us a bit off guard when we were writing up today’s Stroller column. Maybe we weren't expecting it. Maybe we had just missed it before. The sad part is, we likely had just never thought about it. Before you go scouring over the Stroller to see which piece we're talking about, let us explain. The notice was about city offices and buildings closings for the holiday in Martinsville. Now sure, that included the city municipal building and of course the administrative offices, but then, there was a second part to the note. For employees in essential positions, you see, people like police officers, firefighters, EMS workers and water/sewer plant workers, there will really be no holiday.
