The Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department has been awarded a $240,000 grant to go toward training and recruiting front-line firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). Congresswoman Barabra Comstock (R-Va.) made the announcement Monday that the department had been successful in attaining the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant from FEMA. “The Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department has provided great service to the Ashburn community and Loudoun County as a whole since 1944,” Comstock said in a prepared statement.
