A Line of Duty Death funeral service was held Saturday at the Ridge Street fire station in honor of Dennis Brent, a former Palmyra and Charlottesville firefighter who died December 1st. Hundreds of men and women that Brent had touched the lives of shed tears and even some laughs remembering the positivity that Brent always brought to others throughout his life. Charlottesville Fire Chief, Andrew Baxter, was one of the many speakers reflecting on what it was like to serve with Brent. "Dennis' legacy will be evident every time we approach our lives and our interactions with others from a place and from a perspective of deep humility," said Baxter. Brent had served as a firefighter for 38 years. He started as a 17-year-old at the Palmyra Volunteer Fire Company which he eventually became chief of.
