A former Harrisonburg Fire Department employee is accused of breaking into and stealing from a city fire station on two separate occasions. Christopher Mawyer, 26, was arrested and charged with two counts of felony breaking and entering and two counts of felony grand larceny.
On Sunday, staff called police after noticing equipment missing from two trucks at Harrisonburg Fire Station #4 on the 200 block of East Rock Street.
"Upon investigation, it was determined that a former employee had gained access to the station on two separate occasions and had taken the equipment from the station," said Officer H.W. McKenzie, with the Harrisonburg Police Department.
Maywer was taken to Rockingham County Regional Jail and was later released on an unsecured bond.
