As it launches a search for a new fire and rescue chief, city officials will hold a public input session from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday to hear from residents, businesses and community organizations. The session in the Shawnee Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company’s Social Hall at the corner of Valor Drive and Weems Lane will be led by representatives from GovHR USA, the Illinois firm hired by Winchester to help with the nationwide recruitment effort. Attendees will be asked which public safety issues are most important and what professional characteristics and experience they want in the new fire and rescue chief. The information will be used when reviewing applications and interviewing candidates. Allen Baldwin’s last day as Winchester fire and rescue chief is Friday. He is leaving to accept a position as assistant chief of operations with the Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department.
