Two fires in Henrico County on Thursday took place within 30 minutes of each other and displaced 10 people, according to a release from Henrico Fire.
The first fire, which was reported at 6:41 p.m., took place in the 2100 block of Braddock Road. The fire began when food on the stove caught fire, spreading to the kitchen cabinets above the stove. Firefighters arrived and made sure the residents were out of the home and then quickly put out the fire.
Six adults and four children were displaced after the fire. They are being assisted by the Red Cross.
The other fire, called in at 7:11 p.m., occurred in the 1800 block of Louisa Street. Residents called 911 and said smoke was shooting from their oven.
A crew responded to the scene and controlled the fire, removing smoke from the home.
