A firefighter sustained minor injuries, and a dog was rescued from a fire in a Franconia townhome Thursday morning.
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue officials said units from Fairfax County and Alexandria City were dispatched to the fire on the 6600 block of Briarleigh Way, in the Franconia section of Fairfax County, around 10 a.m.
When units arrived, they found heavy fire coming from a three story townhouse. No humans were home at the time of the fire, however, firefighters did rescue a dog. It took approximately and hour to get the fire under control. A firefighter was taken to an area hospital, for minor injuries.
Thursday afternoon, fire marshals were on scene investigating.
