A family of two will be displaced following a residential structure fire in Roanoke County Saturday afternoon. The family lost two pets in the fire, according to fire officials.
Fire officials in Roanoke County say they responded to a fire around 2:05 p.m. in the 7500 block of Cove Hollow Road, in the Fort Lewis area of the county.
Upon arrival, crews say they could see heavy black smoke in the area. First arriving crews found a single story home fully involved in fire.
Officials say the home was occupied by two adults, and two pets, at the time of the fire. Officials confirmed that one dog and a cat died as a result of the fire.
The two adults will be displaced and the American Red Cross will be assisting them.
