A home occupant suffered only minor injures after escaping a house fire in Springfield early Friday morning, authorities said. According to officials, the resident was found in the yard outside the house by fire crews when they responded to the scene. The resident is said to have suffered only minor injuries after the fire broke out around 2:30 a.m. during frigid temperatures that officials say made it difficult for firefighters, especially when their hoses started to freeze. Fairfax County Fire officials say the blaze was brought under control in about 10 minutes.
