Lovettsville electrical fire displaces three, causes $480K in damages

An early Wednesday fire in Lovettsville was ruled accidental by the Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office. Authorities say it was caused by an electrical failure involving an extension cord in the garage. Officials estimated damages to the home to be around $480,000. The local chapter of the American Red Cross responded to the scene to assist three adults who were displaced. Just after 4:45 a.m. Wednesday, the Loudoun County Emergency Communications Center began receiving 911 calls reporting a fire at a home in the 12700 block of Downey Mill Road. Fire and Rescue units from Lovettsville, Purcellville, Lucketts, Hamilton, Frederick County, Maryland, and several command officers responded.
