Roanoke County Fire and Rescue say they responded to a house fire Wednesday afternoon. At around 1:00 p.m. Fire and Rescue responded to the 100 block of North Poplar Street in Vinton for a reported structure fire. They say the first report of fire came in from a Vinton Police officer who was on patrol of the area at the time. Upon arrival they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the single family, vinyl sided home. Officials say one juvenile was home at the time, but the two adults who also live there were not home at the time. The juvenile and three dogs made it out of the house safely. Officials say the fire was contained to the front of the house and attic, but there was smoke and water damage to the rest of the house.
