The Harrisonburg Fire Department and Rockingham County Fire and Rescue are teaming up to start a free, week-long summer camp. Girls ages 13-15 are invited to apply and see what it's like to be a firefighter. Camp L.I.T. — which stands for leadership, integrity and trailblazer — will include hands on activities to inspire and show girls they are capable of becoming firefighters. Erin Stehle, with the Harrisonburg Fire Department, said even for girls who have never considered the career, it will be a fun experience. "Give it a try. I'm always telling people that," said Stehle. "You never know what you're going to find when you try something for the first time, you might find out, 'wow this is the best thing ever.'
