A Rockbridge County farm to figure out how to rebuild after a barn fire killed seven horses. Spirit Horse Shenandoah Valley is a therapeutic riding center serving riders from three to 62 with difficulties ranging from autism to PTSD.
Those seven horses were almost half the specially-trained stock there.
At the farm, 32 hours after the flames last Friday, part of the barn was still smoldering. Local volunteer firefighters helped clear the debris as the Virginia State Police investigated the cause.
Gathered in the shade by their house, the farm owners, Eddie and Judy Zwart, and friends try to come to grips with the loss.
