Chief D. Carson Holloway of Augusta County Fire-Rescue has announced he will be retiring later this year, according to Augusta County Administrator Tim Fitzgerald.
Holloway had been county's fire chief since 2009.
Fitzgerald said Holloway’s last working day was Friday, and he said the chief will use his accumulated leave until he is officially retired. Technically, Holloway’s last day on the job will be Oct. 1, he said.
Holloway retired for personal reasons, according to the county administrator. Fitzgerald said the retirement did not come as a complete surprise, and said Holloway “determined that it was the right time.”
