A dramatic scene unfolded for a local father and son this past father's day weekend at the South Boston Speedway. As car number 39, Mike Jones, raced down the track, a competitor’s car hit his tire. Jones spun out of control and bounced off the stadium walls. When his car crashed and caught fire, his dad was the first one by his side. Dean Jones was never into racecars. However, when his son, Mike, fell in love, the speedway became his second home. "I really enjoy watching him do something that he loves so much,” said Jones. Spending Father's Day weekend at the track just made sense. During the race, as his son was coming up on a turn, he crashed.
