D.C. Fire and EMS say the driver of a car that crashed with a fire truck has died from his injuries. A pregnant woman who was struck while standing on a sidewalk during the crash was critically injured. Investigators say the collision happened at 12:15 p.m. Friday as the fire truck was responding to a report of the smell of smoke. According to investigators, the fire truck drove through a green light at Rhode Island Avenue and 12th Street, NE, when a gold Honda car coming through the intersection was t-boned by the fire truck. A witness said the truck had its lights on when it happened. Fire officials say the driver of the gold vehicle was trapped inside and had to be extricated.
