Halifax County dispatching firefighters for brush fires due to high wind advisory

The Halifax County Emergency Department said it is dispatching two fire departments to the county to handle brush fires that might happen due to the wind advisory issued for several areas in Virginia on Thursday, March 15. Strong gusty winds are expected across the entire area with the strongest winds along either side of the Blue Ridge. Counties included in the wind advisory include Bedford, Amherst, Henry, Pittsylvania, Campbell, Appomattox, Buckingham, Halifax, and Charlotte and the cities of Danville, Lynchburg, Appomattox, Bedford, Amherst, Martinsville, South Boston, and Keysville.
