A woman is dead after a fire at a motel in Fairfax Thursday morning, according to authorities. Fairfax fire officials say it was a room at the Lee High Inn at 9865 Fairfax Boulevard that caught fire some time before 7:22 a.m. The woman has not been identified at this time. The fire department says it was initially a two-alarm fire but it was later moved down to one-alarm. Both Fairfax County and Fairfax City firefighters responded to the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
