Three dozen firefighters worked to put out the flames at a residential fire Sunday night in Norfolk. The fire broke out around 9:43 p.m. in the 6000 block of Newport Avenue, in the Riverpoint neighborhood near Bon Secours Medical Center. Arriving crews found heavy fire and smoke coming from the home's second floor. No civilians were hurt, but one firefighter had to be treated at the scene for heat exhaustion. No one was home at the time of the fire, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
