The family of a Hanover County firefighter killed while responding to a crash on Interstate 295 during Tropical Storm Michael said Sunday it is grateful for the community’s support and harbors “no ill will toward” the driver of the tractor-trailer that ran into the back of a fire truck stopped along the highway. Lt. Brad Clark, 43, of Mechanicsville was one of four Hanover firefighters injured Thursday night on I-295 north of the Meadowbridge Road-Pole Green Road exit, according to Virginia State Police. Clark died at the scene. Two other firefighters were taken to VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. “The Clark family cannot begin to express our gratitude to the community for the outpouring of love and support we have received since we lost Brad on Thursday night,” the family said in a statement released Sunday.
