First responders and those who work behind the scenes during emergencies were honored last week at the annual Chesterfield Fire & EMS awards ceremony.
During this year’s ceremony at Victory Tabernacle Church of God, the Board of Supervisors vice chairwoman was introduced to the crowd as the Honorable Leslie A.T. Haley.
“Are you kidding me?” Haley said. “The honorable are in this crowd. Do you know how lucky we are? We are really, really blessed in this community.”
Haley added that members of Chesterfield Fire & EMS are “always thinking about others first.”
In his remarks, County Administrator Joe Casey emphasized the significance of emergency responders to the county, saying, “Public safety is the most important role of local government.”
