Six people were rescued from a burning apartment in one of Richmond's public housing units. Three children inside the building jumped out of the second-story window into the arms of firemen and a bystander, according to the Richmond Fire Department. "Told them they had to jump," Jamie White, the man who helped rescue the children, exclusively tells 8News. "The house was smoked up. They came out with smut." Firefighters rescued two more kids and an adult, officials say. Fire crews were called to the 1600 block of Rosecrest Avenue in Hillside Court around 4 p.m. on Saturday. Officials say the six people inside the home were taken to the hospital, but none of them were injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The family will not be able to stay in the apartment, so the Red Cross says it's helping them find a place to stay.
