Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner have announced three Virginia fire departments, including Lynchburg, will receive federal funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The Lynchburg, Amissville, and Fairfax Fire Departments will receive $366,788 in total from FEMA's Assistance to Firefighters Grant program. “We’re proud to support funding to help local fire departments purchase equipment and support staff training, ensuring they are prepared to serve their communities,” the Senators said. With the $217,905 in grant money Lynchburg Fire and EMS will receive, they will be able to buy personal safety and rescue bailout equipment including ropes, harnesses, carabiners, and pulleys.
