"When we first started this program, two years ago, a lot of people would say, 'what are you doing? You are embedding Saudi Arabian firefighters in U.S. fire departments? That is insane,'" said Laura Bell.
"An international fellowship program in Manassas, brought eight firefighters from Saudi Aramco, a Saudi Arabian national oil company to northern Virginia to learn and grow in their professions,” said Laura Bell, program manager.
"Our goal for them was to get a lot of calls, a lot of experience. But we also want them to internalize and get a taste for the American fire service culture," said Bell.
"My role, is I am their advisor. So for the next six months, I am going to be in close contact with them, helping them through the process, learning about the American fire service,” said Fire Chief Rob Clemons.
