A Richmond firefighter is suffering from a minor ankle injury, after responding to an apartment fire.
The fire broke out just before 8 p.m. at a public housing unit on the 2800 block of Bainbridge Street, according to Lt. Chris Armstrong, spokesman for Richmond Fire & Emergency Services. Officials say the fire broke out in a closet. Three people inside the apartment, including two children, made it out safely.
While responding to the fire, one firefighter sustained an ankle injury, Lt. Armstrong says. No other injuries were reported. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
