An Albemarle County family is temporarily without a home after a fire broke out in their townhouse Wednesday morning. Crews were called to the 200 block of Albert Court around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, for reports of a fire in the laundry room. Once on scene, crews say there was heavy fire in the area of the dryer. Some smoke from the blaze spread to the adjoining townhouse, but did not appear to cause damage. "The fire damage is limited to the area of the laundry room, so they were able to extinguish it pretty quickly," said Albemarle County Deputy Fire Chief John Oprandy. Authorities believe the fire originated in the dryer due to overheating from a clogged dryer vent, and damages are estimated to be around $20,000. The family of three is said to be staying with relatives until repairs can be made to their home. No one was injured.
