The Burlington Fire Department responded to 253-255 Pearl St. at 10:42 Sunday morning for a structure fire.
First crews on scene saw smoke coming from the back of the building, then discovered the outside wall of the second and third floor were on fire. All on-duty and off-duty fire fighters were then called in, and extinguished the fire in a little under and hour, despite cold, continuous winds.
"The wind effects how our fire conditions are. Any time you have a wind-driven fire, it increases the danger for our people,” said Burlington Fire Chief Seven Locke, who spoke with NBC5 shortly after the fire was contained. “But the fire fighters today did an excellent job -- a quick knock-down on the fire, limiting the damage to a couple of the occupants."
