Around 2:45 on Monday, a garage attached to a West Richland home caught fire. The homeowner was not home at the time of the incident, neighbors called 911 to report the fire.
When firefighters arrived to the scene, there were flames and smoke visible from the outside of the garage. According to Captain Ed Dunbar of Benton County District 4, there were 24 agents who responded to the call. According to Dunbar, the fire looks to have started on the outside of the garage and has visible damage. He told us the homeowner, "will be looking at least 50 thousand dollars on this one, so just because of the roof structure that was involved and the water damage from extinguishing the attic area".
They do not know the cause of the fire at this moment but investigators are looking into it. There were no other injuries or damages, aside from those in the garage, reported.
