PHOTO: A mom and her two kids experienced some terrifying moments overnight before emergency responders rescued them from their burning home. Firefighters and Thurston County sheriff's deputies responded to the Lacey-area home shortly at around midnight after receiving reports of a fire there. Arriving at the scene, they found a mother and her two children trapped on the second story of the burning home as smoke swirled around them. The mom and her kids were able to get out through a window and firefighters helped them escape down a ladder. No one was injured. Crews were able to extinguish the flames. The cause of the fire and the extent of damage are under investigation.
