About 25 Lynnwood residents ran for their lives early Wednesday as a fast-spreading fire raged through an apartment complex. One dad said he got his daughters out of the building only seconds before the intense heat of the fire blew out the windows.
Firefighters responded to the scene, the Westwood Apartments at 176th Street and 52nd Avenue West, at about 3:15 a.m. after alarms went off.
Huge flames were spewing out the windows and door of one unit when they arrived. The blaze quickly spread toward other nearby units.
One man said he heard the fire alarms and had just enough time to get his daughters out of the apartment before the raging heat of the fire blew out the windows.
Everyone in all the units got out safely - thanks in part to the family living in the unit where the fire started.
"They were out, they got their little boy out and they were running down the apartments, making sure everyone was up and out," said the neighbor. "They got their family out and then took care of the rest of us."
Neighbors say it appears the fire started in the kitchen of the unit where it began, then spread quickly.
