A father was killed and his two sons are fighting for their lives after a fire broke out at a home in the Praire Ridge area of Bonney Lake Thursday afternoon.
East Pierce Fire crews raced to the 14700 Block of Prairie Ridge Drive E, around 4 p.m. on reports of a person being trapped inside the burning home. Firefighters managed to rescue two people from the home, but a third -- their father -- was killed.
Neighbors say the man who died in the blaze was a family man and a good friend who would go the distance for anyone.
"Everyone loved him. He was a great guy," said neighbor Jeff Crill. "I lost a friend, a caring, loving friend."
Medics transported the two injured sons to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Smoke could be seen billowing from the home, and firefighters are on scene dousing hot spots with water.
