A dog was killed in a Central Tacoma house fire Tuesday. Three people were home at the time of the blaze but were able to escape before firefighters arrived at the house in the 4000 block of South 17th Street. “There were heavy flames and smoke showing,” Tacoma Fire spokesman Joe Meinecke said when crews arrived about 10:30 a.m. Paramedics treated the three residents outside the home. One was taken to a local hospital to be checked out. “I was in my bedroom, went in, came out of the bathroom, the bedroom was full of smoke,” neighbor Linda Fuson said. “Came outside and the house was in flames. Flames were just shooting out of the house. It was horrible.” Firefighters were still dousing hot spots at 11:15 a.m. and had not yet started looking into what started the fire.
